    Frequently overlooked by aquarists as a boring fish, nothing could be further from the truth! M. boesemani are active and beautiful, and in the presence of a shoaling group display wonderful, active, mating rituals.


    FRESHWATER ANGELFISH - Pterophyllum scalare

    First seen in the market in 1911, the freshwater angelfish, aka pterophyllum scalare, is one of the most popular fish in aquaria today. With large disc like bodies, long flowing fins and a multitude of colors and patterns, angelfish are a stunning addition to most aquariums.


    The name 'Bala Shark' was originally created to help sales and increase the appeal of the fish, which is actually a Cyprinid, or a member of the minnow family. Cyprinid is additionally the name of most other freshwater fish referred to as a shark.


    PACU - Colossoma bidens

    Often mistaken for piranhas, Pacus can be distingushed by the overbite as opposed to the underbite of a piranha. Also if the fish is large enough you can tell by their teeth, a Pacus teeth are flat like a humans front teeth whereas a Piranhas teeth are seraded like a knife Perhaps the most unfortunite thing about Pacus is the their massive size makes them almost inadiqute to keep in an aquarium.


    Queen Arabesque Pleco - Hypancistrus sp.

    These fish are principally nocturnal, so it is uncommon to see them out during the day. When they do come out, they are very easily scared, and will retreat to a safe haven.


    Yo-Yo Loaches - Botia almorhae Gray

    Yo-Yo Loaches have a silver to pale gold background color with a network of black bands on the body. While it is difficult to determine the gender in most loaches by external characteristics, there are some reports that Botia almorhae does exhibit some sexual dimorphism


    The Senegal Bichir is generally found in slow-moving waters, often in swampy regions or along the banks of rivers. The water is frequently turbid (with a lot of suspended fine silt). Polypterus senegalus is primarily a nocturnal predator, feeding on smaller fish, amphibians and insect larvae.


    Siamese Fighting Fish - Betta Splenden

    There are over 15 different species of betta. Betta splendens are the ones found in petstores. Bettas are labyrinth fish, meaning they come to the surface for air. As long as a betta has enough water to cover its self and can get air it can survive


    Guppy - Poecilia reticulata

    The Guppy, in its many different colors and varieties, is a great and hardy fish. Kept by many beginners, it is not a very hard species to keep alive.


    Sailfin Pleco - Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps

    The Sailfin Gibbiceps is quite a unique fish. When the dorsal fin is extended, it looks similar to the sails of a tall ship and is quite a sight to see when swimming.
