    Neon Tetra - Paracheirodon axelrodi

The neon tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi) is one of the most readily available freshwater fish, being sold all around the world.

Chinese Algae Eater - Gyrinocheilus Aymonieri

The Chinese Algae Eater is not in fact from China. These are great handlers of green algae (but only green algae) as juveniles and has sparked their popularity.

German Blue Ram – Mikrogeoghagus Ramirezi

The German Blue Ram, although a very exciting and colorful fish, has created some discomfort for aquarists. Many aquarists have complained of the premature demise of this wonderful fish, most often within a few days or within months after introducing them to their tank.

    Clown Loach – Botia Macracantha

Quite active at times, even playful. They are known to give new owners a scare by "playing dead".

The freshwater flounder is an interesting fish that many of us have noticed in fish stores, and most commonly find their way into aquarists tanks as impulse buys.

Relatively peaceful, especially when young, and a suitable size for aquariums. However, they are predatory fish, so always be aware that any tank mate that will fit in the channel cat’s mouth will vanish.

    Otocinclus Catfish – Otocinclus vittatus

New Otos from the pet store have a high mortality rate but after they settled in, though, they are a joy to have. They have very interesting social behaviors, moving around the tank in groups

Fiesty bottom dwellers - most are less then two inches in total size and are the boss of their territory.

    Bristlenose Catfish - Ancistrus sp.

Looking for a bottom dweller that will work hard and not bust the sides of your tank?  The BN or ABN is just the right fish for you.

    Black Shark - Morulius chrysophekadion

Black Sharks are great jumpers and love to eat plants.
