it said purple chromis.. but its not purple and it doesn look like a chromis...

ok I asked my LFS to order me some purple chromis, i have never seem them but they had a tank with purple chromis on it but they were out, just thinking of the regular green chromis, i figured purple would be a nice color to add to the tank. so when i went to get them, they look more like.. an anthia(hope i spelled that right) so i google'd purple chromis and they look like regular damsels like a really dark blue...anybody have any idea of what these are and their care, reef safe? im assuming they are reef save by body structure but you cant really go by that alone..for 6 bucks a piece, they werent a bad buy though.

Hi, can anyone help with identification of these little guys? About the size of a dime and a nickle and alive because they move.

I have a 55 gal. with about 40 lbs of live rock.

success rate of the shrimp-in-a-glass technique

So, I was staring into my tank....again :) and I noticed a small crab in one corner. I have some emerald crabs in there but I didn't remember having one that small. Then I noticed the red eyes. Seems that I have red-eye reef crab that I didn't know that I had. It would explain the two snails that seemed to have died right there in the corner.

What kind of luck have you guys had with the glass as a trap? I'm going to give it a go this evening, but don't want to use a glass that's too big or else my clowns will take the bait. They follow my hands all over the tank. Hands=food

There's no way to get the rock out of the tank, so I'm wondering what kind of success rate you guys have had with this technique. If I can get him he's going right into the sump. With the rate that the chaeto's growing there won't be much room for him there either.

any ideas?

Pics are blurry a bit but this little guy hitchhiked on some live rock but im not sure what it is since it is still so small. It's pink with green tips, Frogspawn maybe?

I'm sure everyone sees this question all the time, I have a new LFS and the rock they get in is awesome (compared to my old LFS). But either way I got this particular piece of rock today with about five of these anemones on it, I am almost positive they are not aiptasia but I guess you can never be sure. When it is closed it looks like a limpet and when it is open it stays very close to the base (unlike aiptasia). Are there any physical tests I can do to check? (like poke it, lol) Thanks for any ideas

Does anyone have a link to a place that I can check out all of the common things that grow on live rock? I'm just getting started and I am seeing all sorts of things pop up and I don't know much about it. I'd rather do some research before asking about every little thing I see.

asterina-type starfish reefsafe?

I feel horrible, but this isn't my picture, but it is exactly what I have in the tank. Not sure how many there are in there, but at least two. Are these guys reef-safe? I haven't seen them cruising any corals, but then they are small and it's a big tank.

Two things I'm not sure of for ID

The first is a hard coral on the side of some LR that I got that has yellow polyps on it. The lower colony seems dead but the one in the circle has small polyps on it. Wondering if anyone can ID it. It seems to be some kind of SPS, but I have no idea what.

The second seems like it is a type of feather duster. Maybe someone can push me towards a positive ID to see if it will be one of the more long-lived ones or the kind that appear and vanish.

hello i have this corals and i do not know their names, i have done some research and i havent found anything on them yet. will you guys help me out please??????????

on the first picture it will be the one on the left infront of the xenia and the one in the middle right behind the little xenia plz.

on the second one it will be both of them plz.

on the third one it will be the one in the middle.

and last ome will be the green one.
