125 african tank shot
What does everyone think? Any suggestions what I need to do different. IT is a 125 with 35 africans, 1 pleco and a peacock eel. It has a xp3 cannister filter and 2 250 watt stealth heaters. Crushed coral substrate and the rock work is done with lace rock.
thanks for any suggestions seth |

wow! great job!
but you asked for it. filtration - one more xp3 would be handy as they start growing. decor - the backdrop with the reddish hue is awesome. but the plants take away a little something from the scape. |

Love it!
I agree that you will need quite a bit more filtration. You may also want to add a powerhead or two for more water movement. Hiding the heaters or adding an inline heater (or two) would be a good move as well, at least from a decorating standpoint.

I know I need another filter. I just did one for lack of money since they are juvies and the load isn't incredibly high just yet. I will probably be adding an additional xp3 here in about a month.
The stocklist in the tank is as follows Aulonocara sp. "stuartgranti Maleri" x5 Aulonocara sp. Rubescens x5 Labidochromis caeruleus x6 Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" x5 psuedotropheus saulosi x5 Pseudotropheus sp. "Perspicax Orange Cap" Ndumbi x4 Protomelas taeniolatus "Red Empress" x4 Bumble Bee x1 Peacock Eel x1 Rubberlip Pleco x1 Thanks again for all your comments and suggestions. seth |

that's a well-planned stock!
congrats. now just sit back, feed, and watch 'em grow. even the m/f ratio of the saulosi's shouldn't matter in such a huge tank. |

Wow, that is a beautiful tank! I LOVE the rust-colored backdrop.

Im worried. This morning after I did my last post I went to feed the fish and found 2 of my Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" dead. The tank has been up with the fish for 3 weeks now(after it was properly cycled) All the fish looked awsome until then. The ammonia and nitrite are at 0 ppm. the only thing different is that I added two new plants last night but don't remember what they are called. Just as a precaution I took them out and threw them away... any suggestions???
thanks seth |
