Well about 2 years ago I bought a 29gal starter kit from my lfs and stocked it with about 20 mollies, platys, gouramis, and a spotted pleco, and had it that way for a while then grew bored of it, and decided to do cichlids!

I started off with a 30gal rated filter that was included with the starter kit and now that I wanted cichlids I wanted to upgrade so I got myself a 40gal rated tetra filter for more flow and I couldn't be happier with the results, it stays crystal clear for months now!

I started with a few yellow labs and white labs, an afra cobue, a blue cobalt zebra, and 4 demasoni all juveniles, and they did good. But then I upgraded to my 65gal tank for my living room and moved the 29gal into my bedroom and had to make a decision on stock.

So far I only have one blue peacock (correct me if I'm wrong) I got off a local breeder that was his breeding male so he's a pretty sight, I want to get one more peacock maybe a neon blue or something with yellow in it, I hate ob's so I'm gonna wait and see what I find, oh and his name is "TJ" (wife likes to name em lol)

I also grew tired if the drab look of t5 bulbs (prior to using this site and discovering coralife bulbs) and decided to go led, I wanted that saltwater reef style blueish light that made the display tanks pop! So I converted my hood to led and it only cost me $15 (distributor cost) with reef mode and moonlight mode and I've never been happier, here's some pics!

Thanks bud, I'm thinking about selling some DIY kits for the tank hoods, do you know if I need a vendor star on here to sell? Or?

I meant here on the forum, well anyways, it's about 30min if work and apparently the white LEDs can grow coral as well, but as for now I'm gonna be working on my 65gal hoods soon!

I don't actually lol I had a streak of fish dying when I named them, (teen years) so now I just consider them all a pack of dorks swimming together lol
