I was wondering how many cichlids could be put in the new tank I got for Easter. I was looking into convict and firemouth or Jack Dempsey. I know I can't put in plants ill need rocks and overturned pots. But sand or gravel?

Sand and the only one that would fit in there is a breeding pair of convicts.

Agreed:) Get convicts, but i'm pretty sure you don't necessarily need a breeding pair, because they breed like crazy. Maybe 2 females? not a convict specialist though.

They'd get aggressive to eachother I believe...
Not if they pair. Pair's of convicts are deadly, but if it's 2 females, I believe there is a chance they pair, as I would rather have a pair, then a breeding couple with hundreds of baby's in no time.

One of my friends got Africsn cichlids at 6 months and they've survived since August. They're only in 20g
