So as the topic states I'm just updating on my red devil (killian). I saved him back in the beginning of July of this year. I had to sell his tank mate which at the time was a 6" jd. Was the best decision I ever made. All though I did love my jd, I have no regrets about my new lil buddy. He is full of so much personality and I enjoy every time I walk into my room and he's at the glass to greet me.

When I took in Killian he was roughly 1.5-2" and now is probably about 4.5-5".

At the end of the day he IS a red devil and properly named and represents his species well. It is by far the meanest fish I have owned and I imagine he will only get crazier. I wouldn't have it any other way. He makes me laugh, I'll be playing my xbox and get killed on my game and throw a little nerd rage moment, he likes no part of it and will smack the glass to let me know of it. I'll even stretch in the morning... And he will let me know he's there again.

All in all my Red devil is by far my most fav fish of all time. And that's saying something as I have been keeping aggressive cichlids for some years now.

Here are some pics of when I got him, as well as a few I just took. Sorry for the little bit of cloudiness in the later pics. I had just done a WC and had to stir up the gravel from where he likes to dig.

he's got amazing colours!!
do u add feeders or anything to distract him? has he ever bitten you?
so cute for a red devil :)

He gets feeders about once every 40 days or so after a week qt. I do live shrimp about once every 20 days. He eats mostly pellets/frozen blood worms and shrimp.

I'll add new pics shortly, his water is back to normal. We had a plumbing issue that had to be resolved which caused me not to be able to siphon the gravel for 3 weeks.(yes bad I know) it's back to normal now. 

Thanks -Andrew-

Though I'd give a quick photo update since my water looked like poop last week. Like I said had a plumbing issue I had to resolve. Water is back to normal now.

Killian is happy and mean as ever haha.

Haha yeah I work at a bar, so all my fish are named after some sort of alcohol. Killian as in the beer. "killian's Irish red"

But I also thought about him being a killer, it really fits him.

Thanks!

-Andrew-

I wish I could have decor he digs/uproots everything I tried to put in there. Hence the silly upside down cave. He likes to rest/sit in there. But even then he is almost getting to big to do that any more. I think when I move him to the 55 next month I'll add him some terra-cotta pots. I'll update again then.

Eh, did a wc today. So here are some new pics. "My boy" is looking sharp haha. One of these pics almost looks fake like he's been photoshopped into the tank. I thought it was pretty cool as I know it was not since I also have a video of him from where I stole my screen shots. Anyways here he is.

He's currently a single fish in a 30g. He is about 4.5 - 5" I figure I'll move him to the 75 as a single fish, move my bichir to the 55. Then add a breeding pair of cons to the 30. He is about 5 months old now. I figure I should have him moved to the bigger tank in a few months long as he don't hit a spurt.

Thanks. He really is a pretty fish.(if I do say so myself) I caught myself watching him last night for like a hour. He's so active. Even if I'm not playing with him he is all over the place digging and fighting his reflection. I'm actually excited to have a empty 30 haha so many possibilities for a breeding pair to feed my hungry guy.
