40 gal. would this be apropriate for oscars.

Hello, I have only had one freshwater tank so I don't know to much about size and fish compatibilitys. I just bought a 40gal. with filter and heater out of the paper for $40 and I have all saltwater tanks. I wanted to know if I could put two oscars in this tank a tiger and albino. Any suggestions are welcome.

That was a good deal for a 40 gal setup.
I agree with William about needing 75 gal for an oscar.
Have you considered some of the smaller (less than 6 inches) cichlids? In addition to a dwarf pleco, you could get four FW angelfish or a bunch of rams or a pair of firemouth cichlids in a 40 gal.

Consider some of the smaller south american cichlids. They can be just as entertaining as oscars.
Ex. Firemouths, Rainbow Cichlids, or Salvani Cichlids.

A 40gal tank is way to small for even one Oscar they can grow to 12+ inches.

You need more than that, for an adult oscar you'd need at least 100 gallons and a VERY efficient filtration system.

You can also look up info on other South American cichlids. I love my dwarfs--rams and Apistogrammas.
If you are thinking cichlids, there are some Africans that would work including brichardi, kribs, and shell dwellers (not all in the same tank).
