54g Mbuna redo.....hmmmm?

I'm curious about something. I'm considering completely reworking my mbuna tank. Essentially taking absolutely everything out including gravel, and then going back with sand and all new rocks and plants. Can this drastic of a change cause any water issues I need to be aware of or am I safe as long as I leave most of the water in and leave the filter untouched?

As far as bacteria go ull be fine but the sand can cloud the water for the first few days

There is a decent amount of bacteria on the substrate. Id watch out for a mini cycle.

It may mini cycle so its best to keep a close eye on perimeters. Bacteria will stick to just about anything like rocks, plants, gravel and sand. The water doesn't really have anything to do with it.
