Which type of ciclids would be the best to start-up with??? I really like the elec. blue dempsey, frontosa, green ram, or pink concict. Which combo would be best?

-No on the fronts, tanks is to small.
- Pair of EBJD would be fine or a pair of convicts.
- I have never heard of "green rams"

You know a good web-site where i can find rare cichlids or where i can buy cheap equipment for my tank?

Personally, I wouldn't do a pair in a 55 gallon. I felt my 1 JD (although not an EB) was crowded in there. You might have luck, but I would have well established territories, maybe a large piece of wood in the middle or something and some sort of hiding place on each side. That is just my opinion, YMMV. You will also have to do very frequent PWCs and have very good filtration. I was doing a couple PWCs a week at 20% with 1 JD.

A mated pair of convicts might be your best bet in a 55, if you want a pair.

EBJD grow allot slower and are not nearly as aggressive as normal JD. A 55 may be a bit cramped for two but by the time the get larger it would give the OP time to upgrade to a 75/90.

What do you mean by rare cichlids? What equipment do you need?
