My all male mbuna tank works out had to move a few here and there but way more peaceful then when I had females. And yes 12 sounds like a good number, theres going to be fighting but hopefully you find a balance

Here's my tank to give you an idea.
I have more than just peacocks, but the majority are. I also have Bala Sharks, they are temporary, def. not going to stay. They are getting quite big, and I keep saying I'm going to remove them when they become a problem, but they have never been a problem. They are so mellow
