I've been interested in converting my 65 gallon tank into a cichlid tank. Could you guys give me some suggestions on where to start researching and even stocking suggestions? Also can cichlids be in planted tanks?

65 gallons is enough for most Cichlids apart from Oscars, Jaguars, Dovii's and a few others.

I have similar size tank with a Green Terror and Jack Dempsey in it. When people look at Cichlids its really wether you want to go with Africans or New World South and Central American Cichlids as you shouldn't mix them.

So you really need to decide on that first.

I can transfer the plants to my other tank, I'm interested in African cichlids because of their color and that I could add a decent amount of them
