Adding Salt
I have a 55 gallon with Firemouths and Convicts. How much aquarium salt would you recommend adding and how often? It seems that following the instructions would add a lot of salt. They recommend 1 tbs. per 5 gallons of water?

I agree with Rich. If they were brackish then you would add Marine salt, not freshwater salt. I only use freshwater salt if treating for ich. Other than that, I see no need for it. Just an extra expense.

Outstanding, I have added some at times, but was not understanding why... I guess I've heard it is healthy for the fish, so I wanted to be an over achiever. Good news, thanks!
