African Cichlids

I have a 33 gallon (no fish) and I was wondering what African Cichlids I could put? I was thinking maybe the smaller Tanganyikan Cichlids. Which ones are small enough for my aquarium and what else is compatible with Tanganyikan Cichlids?

You could take a look at brichardi (sp?) cichlids, I had some in my 55 gallon before I converted the tank. They form pairs and will spawn and make a great family. You will have the 1st generation fry protecting new born 2nd generation fry along with the parents protecting them!

Well for some reason any small fish go in my filter so I don't think I could have fry.

You can have shellies, some of the Julies stay smaller, brichardi are small, etc. However, in a 33 [acronym:2188bd713c="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:2188bd713c] certain breeding fish will take over.

put sponge or cheese cloth over the intake on your filter - no more fishies in the filter.

Maybe a couple electric blue's and yellow labs. Try this website- http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=864 They have a lot of differeny types of cichlids. We haven't had any of ours have babies yet, I hope the electric blue's will.
