ive had this 55 gal cichlid tank going for about 5 months not. i noticed about a month ago a carpet of algae wich has just been getting thicker and thicker. as my ph was only about 7.4 i decided to add some aragonite sand. about 5 lbs a day to my existing sand bed. i cover the algae carpet slightly and it jus comes right back up even thicker..... so my question is do you think this algae is beneficial or could it be bad for them. should i leave it or vacum it up?

i just coverd it with some more aragonite so the picture just shows a little bit but by the morning it will all be green.

Welcome to AA :)

The picture isnt working, so it is hard to say exactly what is going on. If you can get another picture up and working, the answer will be alot easier to provide since there are so many types of algae

i would vacume it up i had it and when i did my water changes i just vacumed it. a good algee eater would be helpful
