So I bought a breeding pair of cockatoo cichlids for like a week they stayed together now al it seems when the female is around him he chases her away

Why the behavior and will it be hard to breed them when time comes

Maybe he is ready to breed and she isn't. Can you describe her coloration?

That's the best I could get with him chasing her and a tad more info when she comes in eye sight his fins all open up

Looks like she is starting to show a lot of yellow. I would expect a spawn soon.

Just keep your water quality good (0 ammonia and nitrite, nitrate 20-30 or less). They spawned right before they shipped to you so they'll keep it up unless water quality is poor. :)

You're going to need another tank if you would like to raise fry. ;)

The best way is to move the cave/nest site and the female to a tank of their own so the fry get the care they need and she can fatten back up to spawn again.
