Hey Natft, it's definitely a male and looks to be a triple red. TheCommunityCichlid could give you a more positive ID. If you go to the thread 'Dwarf Cichlids!' and go to page 38 you will see TheCommunityCichlid's YouTube links. His cacatuoides looks like yours

I knew it!!! This is the second time I have been sold a pair of apistogramma's only to find I have two males!!!

Really? That's weird. The females are not as colourful on their fins and tails.

Maybe they got them at a really young age?

That's a possibility, otherwise there are very obvious differences between the sexes.

Defiantly a male triple red apistogramma cacatuoides. Females are small and yellow
