Black algae help

Guys need a little help I've found black algae in my tank about a month ago! I've turned light time down plus a 3 day full blackout after scrubbing the whole tank. Yet it still comes back!

My drama is what fish would be safe to place in with my cichlids

Stock 3 x red jewels
3 x convict
1 common plec

System is 55g running to external filters a power head and 2 heaters

Any help offer would be gratefully received

SeaChem Florish Excel works well. Black algae is harmless it just looks bad and can be very hard to get rid of. Hope this helps
