black juvenile jack dempsey?

hello everyone. i saw what i believed to be a small midnight mloto cichlid in my lfs. i watched it for a few days and decided to purchase one. when the store helper and use the term losely wrote down the item number he wrote it down as a jack dempsey, he even said to heres your jack dempsey. which was a bit cheaper than the assorted peacocks sign beside it. my question is has anyone ever seen a black jack dempsey juvenile or is this guy wrong as usual.

it's not in the tank yet, but would all three of them be stressed for 6 days? i'll take a pic at some point this weekend. thanks.

Pics would definitely help. I've raised a lot of jack dempseys and I wouldn't consider any of them black.

i had a jd that was VERY dark almost black, she seemed fine not stressed, i think it is just a "genetic" thing.

Almost all the small JD's at my LFS are black. With little blue/green spots.
