Is this cichlid getting ready to have babies?

2012-12-01_14-01-01_652.jpg

If so, what do I do to try and keep some of the babies?

I remove the females if they are holding and put them in their own tank. Once the eggs and then wrigglers become free swimming I remove her. There will be a time when the fry are out on their own most of the time and then I pull her. Fry can be removed from her by gently holding her and gently opening her mouth with a fingernail. She will spit them out.

If you don't have another tank then she should protect the fry until she gets tired of it. Then other fish in the tank may have a snack.

Thanks

I figured those might have been my options.. Only tank she could go in is my FW with 3 Danios and 2 barbs. So I will see how they do. I did add two hiding decorations with smaller holes that the big fish will not get into easily
