Breeding Kribs
I would like to use my 10 gallon for breeding kribs. It is planted. It has a really nice piece of driftwood with java fern. Do they need the pot to breed in? Will they be fine with 3-4 corys sharing their domain? THe tank will be fairly well planted.
Thanks

My pair are alone in a 15gal quarantine tank so I haven't witnessed them interacting with other fish during the breeding process. [acronym:53b0700208="Hope this helps (or) Happy to help"]HTH[/acronym:53b0700208]

Thanks.
OK, I will move the driftwood closer to the back. As for the corys, ill have to see how it goes unless I get another response. Thanks again

I have read that they should not be with plecostomas because they are bottom feeders, so I think Corys would apply also-

Cories will not last long in a ten gallon tank with a breeding pair of kribs. Kribensis are excellent parents and will not tolerate intruders in their territory. Unfortunately, there won't be enough room for the cories and kribs, so the cories will suffer. The combination in a bigger tank would probably be okay, but I'd really suggest removing the cories to another aquarium.

Thanks voodoo. I fortunately have a 5-gallon that will house them just fine. (There isn't anything in it)

Your cories will be eternally grateful, Treevore!
Unless you wanted to include a small school of fast and agile fish to act as dithers (tetras, rasboras, etc.), I'd suggest letting the kribs have the tank all to themselves. The driftwood and the java fern sound great, but I really would get some type of cave-type structure for the kribs to lay in. Small terra cotta flower pots are great for this and only cost a few cents.
