I've got a chance to get a beautiful butterfly pleco next week. Right now I have a 55g with a blue acara, jewel, convict and firemouth. All 4 are about 2-3 inches. I'd like to add a butterfly pleco to the mix. This would be the last fish I'd out in the tank so it's not over crowded. Is it wise to add the pleco with chiclids or will they destroy it?

Good to know, I've been looking for a smaller pleco to add to the tank. I just didn't want to see the butterfly get torn up. The 4 cichlids in the tank aren't very aggressive towards each other, actually they get along pretty well.

They are a tough fish. But I will mention that they are poo machines. Better have a good vac handy.

That's actually a perfect choice for a 55g. They stay around 6" and all your fish stay around the size size so they shouldn't bother it.
