Checkerboard Cichlid

Hey all.

My LFS has a tank full of these little gems. I have kept some dwarf Cichlids like Apistogramma and currently keep an Apistogramma Gibbiceps and Tefe Pearl Blue.

I was wondering what their care is? I've seen that they like to be in large groups. I've seen they need to be pair/trio like Apistos. Anybody kept them before?

What species? I have maculatus and adore them! I have two males (bought them young) and have no issues, but obviously no breeding

Sadly I don't know. They do not list the scientific name. Just Checkboard Cichlid. I believe it to be the Dicrossus Filamentosus.

Most likely filamentosus, they're the most common dicrossus. Either way, I love my maculatus, easily my favorite fish in my tank!
