chiclid decor

well i was reading that chiclids like to have a very rocky habitat and i decided ill try and fulfill that for them
i want to try and take some rocks from my backyard, clean them off well and then try and stack them with some holes for them im keeping in mind that they r diggers and the rocks may fall so i think ill get some aquarium sealant from the hardware store. any other suggestions that will help me pull this off and have it looking well?

Make sure the rocks are completely clean. You can use aquarium safe silicone to seal them together. I'd pour vinegar over them and if they aren't too porous, I'd bleach them and then rinse very well and add declorinator when I added them to the tank.

question.. not meaning to hijack, but if the vinegar bubbles does that still mean its not ok even for cichlid tanks? I was just wondering the same thing becuase i want to try to find some rocks to add to my tank.

I had to pay dearly for my rocks, we don't have any good natural ones around. I love my texas holy rock though, just not the price. lol
