Cichlid food?

Just starting my first cichlid tank and was wondering what people recomended in terms of food, (type, brand and frequency)? Was thinking either peacock or electric yellows

The 2 brands I personally like are Hikari and New Life spectrum.

I keep American Cichlids.

For Hikari I use:
- Hikari bio gold+
- Hikari Food Sticks

EDIT:
I feed once every night.
Lately I've been overfeeding at night, (bad move, I know) cause my fish are still juveniles, my tank looks so empty ;/
Water parameters are still good and no one has bloat.
I'll cut it down to normal levels now. And just be patient. It would have been better to feed 2 small meals per deal,(morning and night) then 1 large one at night.

I feed my fish twice a day when I work and a few times on weekends. I will slowly add food for 2 to 3 min and only add more once they have eaten what I dropped.
