I bought this little brown cichlid today from assorted african and wanted to know what type he is

Maybe a rusty cichlid??? Google that and see if it looks like that.

Some of the pictures show the rusty with blue but there were a couple that look just like him

If his body is any kind of blue and with those yellow fins.....i think acei

Can you get a better shot of it when it swims to the front of the tank? It could be many things

Pretty sure he is a rusty. He is like a golden brown

Yea it's just young eventually it will look totally different

I looked up pictures online and seen some of em stay that color and I seen others that had blue patches on them with the brown. I hope he stays somewhat the same color

Mine was like that amendments young and turned brown with a purple tint to it. If ya know what I mean

Yea I read that they were called something because of that purple hue they get I can't remember what it is

They can also be called Lavender Mbuna, or Lavender Cichlids. They are really pretty when they grow up!
