Cichlid ID - Aquarium Advice

HEY ALL!

I Just bought a small (1-2") cichlid that i need help IDing, you guys have always been great help....

This cichlid looks like your standard african cichlid as far as shape. Its body is a deep blakc with faint darker stripes (not visible unless you really examine). And its fins are all a brilliant neon orange. Fin structure resembles german ram, with less prominent dorsal fins....ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have a picture? It's hard to tell from color description alone. Especially in a small cichlid that's probably still a juvenile. Sometimes their coloration changes when they age. Are the darker stripes horizontal or vertical?

check out the cichlids on live aquaria....they have pretty good pics and see if any match.

When you say a standard African, what do you mean? There are many different body types of Africans. Do you mean the body type of the Mbuna (Ie: Yellow Labs)?

A picture of the fish is going to be nessisary to identify it. There are hundreds apon hundreds of colorful cichlids.
