Fellow aquarium enthusiasts - I'm super excited about my first two African Cichlids, but I was wondering if you could help me identify what kind I have. The local pet store just labled them as "Assorted African Cichlids." Any guesses?

Congratulations on your new fish... Pictures would be helpful. At least some description like color our something. :)

Assorted tank could either be a hybrid or just a species they don't normally carry.

I don't keep johanni, but I believe they are dimorphic? Could be male and female johanni?

I looked up puctures of male and female johanni, and I think you're right - at least the pictures online match. Thanks!

They are dimorphic, but those are clearly two different species. You rarely find female johanni or maingano unless you go through a breeder.

Could the orange one be a Red Zebra like suggested above?
