cichlid tank opinion?

I was wondaring if it looked ok...its a 55g with sand. Its play sand and I hate it. Any good sand out there? I was a reddish brown or black or white. ..not sure. Im so confused. And I tried live plant bulbs but they never grow....amd I doing that wrong?

Yeah cost ya $6 to fill ya tank but its so dirty and ugly...I hate the pebbles in it.

I bought pool filter sand, Silica sand. I'm much happier with it then gravel and glad I didn't pay $60 for it. Looks like you could use a bit more sand in there, though. And more water. ;P

Pool filter sand come in a 50 lb bag and runs around $10. It's very clean and looks great. Mix with cichlid sand and it looks awesome.

Oh hahaha yeah I do need more sand....but I was doing a water change when I took picture
