Cichlid vs. Beta

Could I put African chichlids in the same tank as a beta fish since they are both rather aggressive fish?

Absolutely not. Aggressive fish and cichlid aggression are totally different IMO.

Besides the fact that betas can't swim well due to their flowing fins, the filtration in a cichlid tank will knock it all over the place.

And lastly, the aggression in cichlids is on another lv, anything they perceive as a threat will be shredded. There is also a size difference to consider. The cichlids will dwarf a beta.

Agreed! Bad things would happen with that combo. With so many beautiful chichlids you'll have plenty of color.

That's not actually true. Betta's are not aggressive, only males are aggressive with one another. I had a male in a community tank with no issues. If you put a Betta in with Africans the Betta will be dead pretty quickly I am afraid.

I have 4 black tetras, 3 orange platys, 2 guppies, 1 red and blue tetra, 3 neon tetra, 2 catfish, 1 plecko (however you spell that), and 2 snails. Will they do ok with those fish?
