Anyone have any suggestions on cleaning a tank after it was used as a saltwater tank?
Going to make it freshwater.
Also what is the easiest way to remove silicone ,was used to hold plexiglass in place.
Thanks,
John

Hi John, the best way to clean an old saltwater tank is to use a mix of 50/50 water and vinegar. You can use it to clean off any salt creep\gunk as well as to soak parts like powerheads etc.

Is the tank itself glass or acrylic? If it's glass, the best way to remove silicone would be to use a razor blade and slice into the silicone at an angle along the glass tank. If the tank is acrylic you can use the same method but cut the silicone parallel to the tank so as to not scratch it etc.

Good luck!
