Cleaning sand?

Looking for advice how to clean my 150 African tank. I changed my substrate from gravel to playground sand. It looks way better but how do I go about vacuuming or cleaning the sand during some of my water changes?

Hover the syphon over the area you want to suck up the gunk and swirl. the waste will lift off the sand and get sucked up.
