I'm sorry to say that when I woke up today I went to feed my electric yellow cichlid fry and all six were dead I think the cause was ammonia the ammonia was at 1.0 :(

Were they in their own tank? Did you just set it up for the fry?

Sorry again. If you just set it up for the fry then it wasn't cycled. The ammonia probably spiked and that's what did them in.

What I recommend is when you first notice a fish holding, run the filter you have for the fry tank in the main tank for a couple weeks. That way the bacteria will get established and you can then move the filter with the fry into the fry tank.

It can vary it could be a couple of weeks to months. I had the same thing happen her batch died and she just started holding again month later :) good luck!!
