Electric Blue Cichlid??

Went to a local shop and they had these on sale 2 for a buck... Sign said Electric Blue Cichlid? It was a tank full of these yellow fish? So will this turn blue or what is it?

that is a electric yellow cichlid, it will stay yellow I think

Ohh.. weird. Not to good on cichlids but maybe can they turn that color when they are not happy? There is no way it is an electric blue i dont think. At my local pet store, the electric blue is less then an inch and bright blue

Maybe it was electric blue johani because thats what it looks like only yellow

I'm leaning towards melanochromis johanni (recently returned the pseudotropheus genus) on this one.

Similarly-sized Chipokae's have prominent black horizontal markings along the body and all of the fins to include the caudal fin (tail fin) as the fish on the right in the below link and in the chipokae link that you provided also displays.

That looks like a male M. Johanni. Males will turn blue and females will stay yellow

Yes it is a Johanni I believe the females are yellow.
