Feeding crayfish to cichlids?

I heard that some people feed crays to their cichlids


Would it be a good idea to take some baby crays from a nearby pond to feed to my julidochromis transcriptis?

I wouldn't put Crays from a pond in your tank. You don't know what they are carrying

I would say to be cautious, however I don't think that crays would typically harbor any diseases that would affect cichlids and vice versa. However, I would say that you can get some from the wild, quarantine them, and breed them so you know they are safe. Marmokrebs are great for that since they're such prolific breeders.

I hear people keep them in buckets


I have n extra air pump if they need airation

Would a 2x1 plastic tub and the pump be enough for them to breed?
