Well today I bought a pair of convict cichlids that my lfs owner said have breed 2 times. And they were the only two cichlids in the tank. And had just spawned. He sold me the fish and the eggs. Everything was fine until after I fed them. My male who is clam just swims around but my female is guarding the eggs but is now flaring and attacking my male once he Even comes close to the eggs. I have other hiding spots in the tank but they were calm and together at the lfs. Now I've heard of the male attacking the female but not the female attacking the male that's what I thought was so strange. If you guys could shine some light on this for me I'd really appreciate it.

My male

My female

The female is also smaller than the male.
