Definately looks like a non-mbuna to me (which would rule out cynotilapia).

Jktrain, what's the estimated length of this fish?

In my opinion there are general differences in the body, head and mouth shapes of mbuna's and non-mbuna cichlids that can aid in at least distinguishing them from each other. Colors and/or color patterns offer secondary differences as well.

The shape of this fish seems to lean more toward the non-mbuna form. The 'height' of this fish (for lack of a better word, but basically the distance spanning from the belly to its back). In this regard it more resembles in shape the blue peacock in the background than the pseudotropheus adjacent to it.

The fish's mouth is not clear but the colors and patterns seem non-mbuna to me as well. The stripe extending from below the eye and down the jaw also seems like a non-mbuna trait to me.

This is all my opinion, of course!
