This looks like some sort of a Flower Horn/Parrot Hybrid. Possibly a Kirin Parrot?

Does that mean it is a hybrid?

When people say hybrid , do they mean two different fish mated like with dogs (mutts) Which make them genetically superior because of genetic diversity, or some type of gene transfer in a lab?

First off, no that is not a proper analogy.

Dogs are all of the species canis familiaris. A mutt is a mixed breed.

Cichlids are species, and a hybrid is a combination of two or more species.

It would be like breeding a dog with a coyote.

Next, it does not strengthen them genetically, and typically wild caught or first generation captive bred are going to have much stronger genetics than an extremely line bred fish.
