Good tank mate for convict

Hey guys. Ive had a convict in a 55 for about a year now and I'd like to get another fish. What fish is a good tank mate for it? 4-6 inch range.

Firemouth would be a decent choice.

+1 for a firemouth. I like jack dempseys as well but a 55g might not be a forever home as they do get big, but if you get it as a juvi you'd have some time to watch it grow and mature before you have to make the call as to whether or not to keep it in the 55g.

I've seen people mention some of the bigger bodied tetras (like black skirt, serpae), and barbs(tiger, green).

Would a school of those be ok?
