Also how big is ur FH now??? Mine is 5 almost 6 inches

My FH is about 6.5-7" now and getting chunkier by the day but also probably the most aggressive fish I've ever owned.

Ozmo, that fish a chick based on everything I know about sexing GT's without looking at their junk.

Thanks HUKIT.

Someone else (different forum) commented that only male GT have golden/yellow pectoral fins which mine definitely has.

I think I might have to just grab the GT and check for a V or a U.

Gold saums or Silver Saums which are the true green terrors share that trait with both male and female and can't used to ID fish.

Ok cool. Thanks for clarifying. That's another check for female.

Lol yeah me too! But his bestfriend in my tank is my Oscar which is 11 inches. But tries to go to war with my EBJD. My tank is usually mellow, except for when he tries to get into the ebjds home. And he goes realllll hard. It's cute tho cuz he swims side by side with my Oscar, "sleeps" with the Oscar and everything.

Hukit - regarding your comment about the gold saum. The guide to cichlids book I've been reading says the gold saum (aequidens sp) is not the real green terror and is a closely related species that remains undescribed as of 2007 atleast. It says the real green terror is aequidens rivulatus.

Is there a dispute over which species is supposed to go by the GT trade name?

Actually the true Green Terror is a Andinoacara Stalsbergi, the silver and gold saums are the basically the same fish with different coloration. We started to see there two species when the true GT was being restricted for various reasons. I've only personally seen one true GT privately owned and this was purchase from Jeff Rapps in the mid 90's as they are extremely rare. So there are four fish that are called GT's, and the Aequidens rivulatus is the same genus but a different species than the gold/silver saums. Most people don't even know the silvers saums and others exist as they only see the common golds so generally I'll refer these as trues since rarely will anyone see the Aequidens rivulatus or Andinoacara Stalsbergi in their lifetime.

Thanks for the background. I did some reading and saw a picture of the original green terror. It seems like the nicest of all the species being called GTs. It's a shame it's so rare. I guess my book dropped the ball on this topic. Surprising considering how incredibly detailed it is with all the cichlid genus and species.

What are you reading? I'm always looking for new books. Ive given quite a few out the local library for students to read but the books always come back looking worse for wear, plus I've really been concentrating on Ad Koenings.

Yeah I got my FH when he was a colorless little fry now he is a big fat chunker (see pics below). He is the most interactive fish I've ever had. He actually swims up to my hand for a massage and food of course. When I vac the gravel he is always right beside my hand just like a dog.

My GT isn't fussy at all. He used to even steal food from the Pleco when he could.

Here's my FH...

Thanks Ant. I was just about to post that question as someone else made the same comment about her :)

Apart from a festae, I've never known such an aggressive female fish.

Thanks again!

I just realized how off-track this post has gone :)

Ah well, not to worry.
