Help I.D. malawi juvies?

My one close friend asked me to help i.d. a few new purchases. After scolding him for impulse buying an "unknown" i agreed.
Pics are blurry at best. We're looking at the fish below the filter intake to the left in one pic and slightly below right in the other. Its brown spotted and has a whitish streak @ top of dorsal.

How big is that tank?

I think he has them in a 40gal breeder but dont quote me on it.
I do know they're all juvies of less than 2" and he's using it for a growout preceding his 125gal. There are a few more in there that I'm not sure of also. I guess they were all in a misc. African tank @ walmart.
While i dont condone walmart fish purchasing i think he has some stunning specimens.

From the pic I would agree Venustus, I have one in one of my tanks great looking fish when they get larger.
