Have an 80 gallon tank and have been enjoying it for almost 9 years now. For some reason though since I moved to my new place, I can never get my water to clear up.
My ammonia levels are 0 but my water looks yellow and is always cloudy.
I have been doing 30% water changes daily for four days and although it is getting better I am worried there may be an underlying problem I am ignoring.
My tank tenants are:
1 Red Devil - 10 inch
1 Ornate Bischer - 16 inch
3 Pleco's - 18, 8, & 6 inch
1 Kenyi - 6 inch
2 Bumblebee's - 3 inches each
2 Jack Dempsey's - 6 & 1 1/2 inch
2 Catfish - 6 inches each
2 Goldfoil Barbs - 6 inches each

I know that is probably way way way overcrowded but they are my babies and I still want clean water ...

Someone help me!!

Something must have upset the bacteria balance when you moved the tank. That tank is massively overstocked and that's why your water is cloudy, I'd try 50-80% water changes daily to keep the water parameters in check.

yeah its really overstocked
i suggest getting rid of your plecos and get a bn pleco, it will be a much smaller bioload. getting rid of a few fish would help too.

Thanks guys. I just did another water change. I know it is overstocked but I will try to get rid of a few soon.

Just keep on top of those water changes until you can find new homes for a few of them and everybody should be just fine.

What is a bn Pleco? Brand new?

Sorry. Here is the pic. Of my 77 gallon with my 18" Pleco. The other two are like 8" or so

I need to get a new home for them though I guess :( I have really overcrowded my tank.

Holy pleco! That thing is huge :) I like your tank.

Thank you. :) Trying to get rid of the cloudy water. Looks like regular water changes until I dwindle my dudes down a little bit :)

Beautiful fish! Ur red devil is awesome. Can't wait till mine grows up. How old is he?

Oh and yes... I agree with them u are a bit overstocked. How many gph are u filtering?

I couldn't give you an age. I got him and my 18" Pleco 2-3 months ago. He can get aggressive if you are in the water with him but he interacts with my kids through the glass all the time. They 'kiss'. It is cute. George (red devil) goes nutz whenever he sees my daughter. I love it!! :) how old is yours?

I have 2 Fluval c3 pumps so I think that is just over 300 gph ... What do you think? Is that okay? I am so new at being a fishy pro hehe

That's awesome:) if I was to guess maybe two or three months old he's about 3.5 inches now. His name is Carlos. ;)

I saw your tanks earlier. They are beautiful!! I saw your red devil too - that is cool you responded to my thread. Hard to believe they can start so small eh?
