What is the perfect, or set temprature I should keep a Central American Cichlid tank? It is currently @ 78 degress. Thanks in advance!

There's really no "perfect" temperature setting, although I'd suggest something in the mid-to-upper 70's. Looks like you've got it nailed on the head. :)

I don't think the lower temps would stop aggression.
Probably just make them annoyed that they can't get out of the cold area.

Lower temps slow their metabolism but it doesn't necessarily mean less aggression. I keep my cichlids at 78.

Well I was curious about the aggression issue stated above so I lowered the temp to 74 - 76 and I really don't think my convict liked it at all. She was actually more territorialy then anything I have seen. She has her spot and usually she doesn't care if something swims past it put as soon as a fish got anywhere near her area she snipped at them. Also fish seemed more timid as well.

I then upped the temp to 78 - 80 and added some aquirium salt and the fish seemed extremely mellow and relaxed. :D
