Question Identi-fry

The PetSmart near me adopts out fry because they can't officially know what they are to sell them. Mostly they are various types of Platy with some Mollies and Guppies, but tonight there was something different. Any ideas as to what this 1/4 inch long cichlid is?

I'm not sure, you'll probably need to let it grow out some to tell

Kind of what I figured. At first I was thinking Convict then in the car there was an angle that it looked like a Ram, after consideration of what the store had I'm betting some african type, kicking myself for not asking what tank it was caught out of.

It looks african to me possibly a peacock cichlid but I'm not an expert on figuring these out especially this young.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure and didn't want to just throw a name out.

Thanks for the info, after doing a bit of reading on the species this should be a nice fish for me. I'll try to keep this thread updated with new pics as it grows.

He's getting somewhat bigger, and lightening up a lot.

Umm when he gets bigger that other fish will more than likely become food.
