I'm not an expert but it does have the effervescent spots but the actual coloration/patterns seem different.. Hybrid??

Actually I think it is a jewled cichlid

That's similar to what small JDs look like. They are black and white and then gradually get their color.

I think it is a JD, mine looked very similar when I first got him. Color will cone when its more comfortable and a little bigger
