Is my oscsr dying?

I have a 7 inch oscar(beautiful fish) when I came home he was freaking out, jumping out if the tank, splashing water all over the place, crashing into things. Now there is a decent gash on the top of his head, and his colors have gotten bland and his white stripes are showing(submissive) it think. I'm wondering if it's about to die or if it's a dominance/maturity thing. Thoughts?

Oscars are known drama queens. Check your water parameters to make sure all is good and increase your water change schedule and his head will heal just fine.
