So I have more baby sp.44 and I put them in a clear breeder container....I was watching and she started chasing all the fish around the tank. She's protecting her babies like crazy!

Thanks, there are plenty more babies where they came from. And I only have one of these males! But I feed my babies first bites made by HIKARI. They love it lol

fwiw to anyone with fry, i like to feed my fry NLS, i recently got a new (empty) pepper grinder for about 5 bucks off ebay and use it to grind down NLS pellets.

it works superb, the pellets get cut into a fine grain consistency. the fry love it. and i dont have to buy fry food :)

Ok cool, thanks....it just slipped my mind. I looked it up on ebay like a month ago....is this like the best fish food out there or something because a lot of people talk about it?

NLS is a great food, but there are others as well. Xtreme, Hikari and others make good products IME. Tetra and Wardley are the cheapest out there (with good reason). Variety is also important.

the makers of spectrum have basically formulated a specific diet with the right amount of nutrients.

they fed their fish certain nutrients, all measured out.
x amount of carbohydrates
x amount of protien.
etc etc

then they tested the fish poo, to see what nutrients were used and what was left over in their poo
by doing so they worked out exactly what nutrients a fish needs, and at what levels each nutrient should be supplied

what they found is carnivores and herbivores need the same amount of nutrients, the only difference is the way they get it (one eats fish, the other plants)

they then come up with a nutrient rich pellet which is the perfect balanced diet for nearly all fish.

thats why spectrum gives good natural colouring, it doesnt foul your water like other foods, and you dont need to supplement your fish's diet with other foods to try get the right nutritiion to your fish.

in a nutshell its a scientifically balanced and complete nutrition formula
