I've seen a varierty of blue colors in Jack Dempsey's. Is there a difference between a blue tinted JD vs an electric blue?

I have 2 jack Dempsey 1 male 1 female. Tomorrow I get my electric bleu it's only the collor. I think they getting bigger to I think. But electric bleu is prettier.

Yes, a "Blue Gene" is a cross between a normal one and a EBJD. An EB is if both the parents are EBs.

Thanks. Is there also a red gene? I've seen red tinted ones as well.

Blue gene jack dempseys are identical to regular jack dempseys in appearance, they just carry the recessive electric blue gene.
Typically EBJDs are mated to a blue gene JD to produce EB offspring. EBJDs are not normally mated together because they tend to produce extremely weak offspring.

So the process is mate an EBJD with a regular JD to create BGJDs, grow out BGJD and mate it with an EBJD (preferably not the father).

There is a gold jack dempsey variant, I don't know about a red one.
