Jaguar cichlids sex?

Hello everyone! So just as the title says wanted to know the sex of my jaguar cichlid. I have been told it's a male but I'm not sure as I believe the connecting of the spots especially throughout the body make me believe it's a female.

They are currently in a 250 gallon tank

At first glance I would say female, I've had a breeding pair before and that just strikes me as female...

Alright cool thanks. Guess I just suspected it may of been female from the pattern as I thought makes had smaller spots?
