We've had a group of these for a few months in a 20 gallon growing out, and we've decided that it's time to get serious about a breeding project- these are REALLY nice looking fish.

Tank is a 46 gallon bowfront with Rena XP2 that has been running for a couple of years. The former residents, a pair of angelfish, have moved next door to a 120 gallon with our Mesonauta acora pair and Laetacara dorsigera.

I'm starting the swap now, so stay tuned for pics! (y)

Ok, here's what I've been up to tonight. :)

Tank drained and glass scraped, new sand poured in. Sand is PFS.

Tank refilled, rock is in. It's TX holey rock that we had on hand. Actually, everything I used was already here so total cost tonight for the upgrade was $0. :D

I haven't caught them out of their old tank yet! LOL. I was taking a break. I'm going to head out and catch them in a few. :)

Here they are in their bucket. I'm dripping them for a while.

Tank is still a little cloudy, but the fish are settling right in. It's interesting watching their "disagreements" as they are claiming territories. Here are a few pics.

Julies are really nice fish and very good parents.
I once saw a pair of Julidochromis dickfeldi in a 5 foot sump at an aquatics store near me.They were in with a host of large Frontosa and various tropheus. They had a brood of maybe 20 fry and the tank only had one Texas holey rock in the centre. The Dickfeldi easily managed to keep the hungry predators at bay.Amazing sight.May you have much joy from your fish :)

You weren't kidding when you said they were REALLY nice looking. Those are excellent :)

Thanks, really appreciate it. We got them at one of our "mini" auctions at a club meeting a while back.

Very cool, we have never kept dickfeldi. I'm hoping ours turn out to excellent parents as well, and everything I have read suggests that they will. Wow, I can't believe the dickfeldi were fighting off Frontosa! LOL.

Here are some more pics and a feeding video... enjoy! :)
